Finding the right hairstyle is essential to pulling off the right look for you. The first step is figuring out the shape of your face and its defining features. Think long and hard about this and be brutally honest, do you have a square and pronounced jaw that you would like to direct people's eyes away from? Perhaps you have big chubby cheeks that make you look like a squirrel with a face full of nuts? Whatever shape your face is, there is a right hair style out there for you and we just have to decide what it is.
Does your face have the same width and length with soft features? If so, you have a round face, but don't worry that isn't a bad thing. You want to create a thick look on the top of your head, but keep it slim near the face. You either want to keep your hair short, short, short or have it go down past your shoulders. Shoulder length hair with a round face is a combo that makes you just look wide and thick, it's not exactly flattering.
Is your jaw line the same size as your forehead? You most likely have a square shaped face and it's probably loaded with some pretty sharp features. The good news is you can wear your pre-tip hair extensions at any length you want, you just have to stay away from flat boring styles and straight cut bangs, for the love of God stay away! You need to layer like your life depended on it. You can go with side bangs that sweep across your face, but SERIOUSLY stay away from the straight cut bang look, it will only further your boxy facial frame. If you do have square face syndrome (like me) and yourcheap clip in hair extensions has little to no body (like me), it can be really beneficial to put some product in your hair that gives it a little boost and ads some body. By adding a bunch of curvy bouncy lines around your square jaw you can make your features appear softer even if they are hard as a rock.
Do you have a big wide forehead but your chin comes down to a little tiny point? Congrats, you have a heart shaped face. You want to have full and volumous hair around your jaw line. For you, shoulder length hair is your best bet. It complements you facial structure and takes away from your weak chin.
Is your face about 1.5 times as long as it is wide? Well then you have a long face. You want to avoid having a high hairstyle because that will only ad length, and you also want to avoid long straight hair because the vertical lines will only add to your dilemma. I have one word for you: BANGS! Bangs will break up the length of your face and give it the segmented look you have been searching for.
Now obviously not everyone's face fits into these perfect shapes and you get some combinations along the way. But these tips are good ladies, and you should keep this guide with you when you go to the hair salon. Once you know your face shape you know what works best for you and how to show off your lovely mug.
